Come visit a rehearsal
Guests are always welcome. If you like what you hear and experience, consider joining our chorus! We meet every Tuesday at 7:00 PM at the Horticultural Hall, 330 Broad Street, in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

What happens when I visit?

At your first rehearsal, you will be greeted by a member of the membership committee. You have the choice to either watch us or to sing on the risers with us. If you want to sing, our director Tessa will take you aside and listen to your voice. She will then assign you to one of the four vocal parts in barbershop music (tenor, lead, baritone, bass), and introduce you to someone on the Music Team who sings your voice part to stand near you on the risers for any help or questions.
(In general, tenors sing the highest harmony notes, leads sing the melody, basses sing the lowest notes, and baritones harmonize by singing the remaining notes in the barbershop chord.)

What's a typical rehearsal like?

We rehearse on the risers from 7:00-9:00. We normally have a stretch break about half way through. Before each rehearsal a list of the songs we will be working on is sent to everyone, so that we know what to review ahead of time and what to expect at rehearsal. At 9:00 we have a short business meeting before adjourning for the evening.

Is there a dress code?

Wear whatever is comfortable. Since you'll be standing on the risers, comfy shoes are a must.

Is there an age limit?

We embrace singers of all ages. Our chorus ranges from teenage to singers in their 80's. Singing definitely keeps you young! (Singers under the age of 18 must have a relative present at all chorus activities.)

world_small Here's a short video from Sweet Adelines International that will give you an idea of what we do. Big choruses and small choruses and many quartets from all over the world, all singing the same song. The common threads: the music, the friendship, and the joy!
